Initiatives – Gatherings of Good____________________________Haylers in Action! This category is dedicated to our current and future initiatives, fisabi lillah. Join us in these Gatherings of Good:Abu Hurayrah radiAllahu anh’ reported that the Prophet salAllahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Never do a group of people gather together in one of the houses of Allaah, reciting the Book of Allaah and pondering over it, except that peace descends upon them, and mercy surrounds them, and the angels encircle them, and Allaah remembers them in His gathering”(Sunan Abu Dawud)
- Al Ma’un
The Ummah is as one body and the ties of brotherhood and sisterhood transcend all bounds. Such a mentality displays the virtue of taking care of the members of our community, meeting their needs and having concern for their well-being. We wish to be of those who engage in Al-Ma’un (small kindnesses). Our efforts thus far include feeding the homeless, visiting the sick, preparing and delivering Eid gifts and Zakaatul Fitr food to Muslim families, driving Muslim sisters with no transport to Eid prayers as well as to the Masaajid, getting them clothing for Eid as well as inviting them to our gatherings on Eid day, and finally cooking for new mothers.Future initiatives will include following a janazah, clothing drives, creating care packages for new Muslims, as well as assisting those in need of financial help.Contact:Ardo Noor: noor_fatma@hotmail.com
- Blessed Dawn
The early hours of the mornings are blessed, as the Prophet sallahu alayhi wasallam has informed us. We seek to wake our beloved sisters from their slumber to join us for this beneficial program, leaving their sleep for that which is better. The Blessed Dawn program consists of Qur’aan memorization, tafseer, as well as sports. Our tafseer begins with Juz ‘Amma based upon a lecture set, “Touched by an Angel†by Muhammad Alshareef, in conjunction with Tafsir Ibn Kathir and the summarized tafsir in the Noble Quran (Muhsin Khan). It is a program geared towards the improvement of sisterhood and knowledge, sports being an added bonus. The bonds of sisterhood never looked so good!Contact:Sahra Shirdon: sahrashirdon@hotmail.com

- Shaykh-a-Month
The virtue of ‘ilm is known; the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever Allah wishes good for, He grants him understanding of the religion.â€[Bukhari and Muslim] Because of the great significance of ‘ilm, it is imperative that we work towards getting people of knowledge in our community to disseminate knowledge, propagate the da’wah and call to the way of Allah. The Shaykh-a-Month program will be a focused effort on ensuring that we always have a constant flow of people of knowledge coming into our community and leaving an enriching legacy.Contact:Farhan Shareef: fshareef@yahoo.comVolunteer Opportunities___________________O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm.(Surah Muhammad; Ayah 7)Islam is a faith of action, in which we must implement what we learn; and as every act of goodness is an act of charity [Saheeh Muslim], we urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to aid us in our various initiatives. From advertising for events, to participating in the Al Ma’un program, to coordinating Islamic projects, there shall always be a need for those willing to serve others, working fisabilillah towards the betterment of the Muslim community, and ultimately themselves.
